I recently got an iTouch a couple months ago and have been a bit slow in exploring the podcasts out there. Found one called The Bugle from Timesonline, a British paper. Hosted by John Oliver from the Daily Show and some other guy, Adam Salzberg or something like that. Covers mainly US news and politics for a half hour, but it's absolutely hilarious. British humor, applied to US articles and news, good stuff.
And if some folks are wondering why I'm not around as much lately, my sleep schedule is really messing with me.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/2277298/President-George-Bush-'Goodbye-from-the-world's-biggest-polluter'.html
The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter."
He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.
Mr Bush, whose second and final term as President ends at the end of the year, then left the meeting at the Windsor Hotel in Hokkaido where the leaders of the world's richest nations had been discussing new targets to cut carbon emissions.
One official who witnessed the extraordinary scene said afterwards: "Everyone was very surprised that he was making a joke about America's record on pollution."
Mr Bush also faced criticism at the summit after Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime Minister, was described in the White House press pack given to journalists as one of the "most controversial leaders in the history of a country known for government corruption and vice". (Pot calling kettle "black." Much love to Italy, but the Italian government isn't known for its integrity.)
The White House apologised for what it called "sloppy work" and said an official had simply lifted the characterisation from the internet without reading it.
Concluding the three-day event, leaders from the G8 and developing countries proclaimed a "shared vision" on climate change. However, they failed to bridge differences between rich and emerging nations on curbing emissions.

So I've been on a journalism kick lately, and a Clooney kick for years. For some reason I owned the Good Night and Good Luck DVD, yet never watched it.
Finally sat down and popped it in last night, and it was absolutely amazing. David Straithairn's Murrow impression was dead on and just captivating. The whole story of the fight against McCarthy and speaking truth to power really resonated with me. Especially the speech at the end about the value of Habeus Corpus.
Even the setting and soundtrack all helped to shape the mood accordingly. Just an outstanding movie, although it kinda brings home some thoughts about how we've basically had people trying to replace the word "communist" with "muslim"

Less Than Jake's GNV FLA.:)
Just finished listening to it for the first time today, will probably listen to it a dozen more times hehe. Such an amazing album, goes back to their Hello Rockview sound, but a bit happier and ska-ier. Such good fun.

| Subject: | So I almost made my mom break down today |
| Security: | Public |
I was supposed to meet her for breakfast at 930 this morning. I dunno what happened, I couldn't sleep last night, but set my alarm for 830, finally got to sleep around 5 after debating just staying up the last few hours and going then. For some reason, my alarm didn't go off and I woke up at around 1030 to the sound of my mom sounding horrible coming up the stairs. She thought I maybe did something to myself since it's Father's Day or something, she was scared:/
So we missed breakfast but went out to Dad's tree where I talked to him for a while.....I wish I hadn't made my ma worry, but I have no clue what happened. My alarm wasn't even set even though I know I set it..... I know today is extremely hard on her, since it's been 6 years now since he passed, and his turn for the worse started today...I still remember my brother and I coming over for Father's Day and dad looking so pale and weak in his overalls....plus mom was cooking and she never cooks....it's been a rough day.
I miss him, I think that's also why all this talk about Russert and his dad struck me hard this weekend:(

Tim Russert, 58, moderator of Meet the Press and NBC Washington Bureau Chief passed away of a heart attack today.
Meet the Press was the last real news program or punditry that hadn't been twisted to a partisan side. You never knew Tim's politics, he was fair, firm to every guest. He asked the tough questions, got the tough answers, and nobody was beyond his journalistic sight.
He was so enthusiastic all the time also, but even more so during election season. He seemed ecstatic that we were in a historical election, impassioned by both candidates and that it was going to be a true debate about values and philosophies.
I'm going to miss him, and I can't think of any reason to even watch Sunday morning news anymore:(
Watching the MSNBC coverage of his death is pretty heart-breaking also. Keith Olbermann has almost broken down several times and Chuck Todd, who saw Tim as a father figure who gave him his shot in the business, had bloodshot eyes and choked up several times.

GNV FLA is the seventh full-length studio album from Less Than Jake. It is currently scheduled for release on June 24, 2008 through the band's own label, Sleep It Off Records. The album's title is an abbreviation of the band's hometown, Gainesville, Florida.
In a press release for the album, the band had the following to say:
It's a return to form that could be called the “traditional” Less Than Jake sound, complete with their trademark bouncy ska grooves and horns galore, GNV FLA comes full circle with the band’s beginnings, when they were scrapping up money from gigs to augment their Pez collections.
The LP's third track, "Does the Lion City Still Roar?", is slated to be the first single. The band uploaded the song to their website for listeners on May 25, 2008. The single will be released on June 17, 2008 with a b-side entitled "All Time Low". The band recorded a sixteenth song as well called "Antidote for the Underdog". Scott Klopfenstein from Reel Big Fish provided additional trumpet parts on some of the CD's tracks.

"I would not be running for President if I didn’t believe with all my heart that this is what the vast majority of Americans want for this country. This union may never be perfect, but generation after generation has shown that it can always be perfected. And today, whenever I find myself feeling doubtful or cynical about this possibility, what gives me the most hope is the next generation – the young people whose attitudes and beliefs and openness to change have already made history in this election."
Barack Obama - Philadelphia - 18 Mar 08
It's about damn time somebody grasped things like this.

Watching the primary coverage today. My boy Ron did alright in Washington, and Obama swept all 3.
He just gave a friggin' home run of a speech at the Jefferson Jackson dinner in Virginia. I seriously suggest anyone listen to that thing. Dude can work a crowd and probably guaranteed himself the nomination and election tonight.

Yeah, hey again.
I'm living in Carolina now to go to college, it's cheaper to live up here.
Decided I'm going for a Criminal Justice degree. I'm just bitter by so much corruption out there, so much stuff behind the scenes. I want to be in a position to take care of it, or at least uncover it. Going to get my degree and get into Private Investigations. Join a large investigation firm to get my experience and contacts and then go into my own business in a few years. I figure this is the best way to do something besides push money around.
Book reading lately has been See No Evil and Sleeping With the Devil by Robert Baer, ex-CIA agent. The first book is an accounting of his years in the field as an investigator and recruiter of spies. The second book is all about the Saudi royal family's ties to the US Government over the many years(through the Bushes and Clintons at least) and it's pretty disheartening stuff. Nothing conspiracy theory wise, but just old-fashioned corruption. Blah.
Maybe I guess I should dig that Tatsuya avatar out again, lol.

Wow, probably the best RPG I've ever played. Ending was great, the storyline just outstanding and the actual gameplay was fun as hell and addicting.
Got pretty teary-eyed near the end there though:/
Persona 3 - mark it down, best RPG on the PS2, period.

I wish I knew how to send pics from my phone to LJ. That way I could show off my running partners today. This school of ducks was alongside the sidewalk I always run by. They were awesome looking and even followed me for a bit. I've started running near the apartments across the street from mine because they've got this huge pond that has a running path around it....plus it's a little richer area so there are hotter girls there:P
